The Toubkal walk in winter is one way to appreciate the uniqueness of the places and the diversity of the landscapes that Toubkal proposes. In fact, the winter trek of Toubkal will please the mountaineering and walking lovers, as the conditions will be much less difficult and the snow will be meeting us for this walk. It will then be an opportunity to test your limits, while discovering the climate and the conditions in High Atlas during this season.
For that program, you must wear warm clothes to compensate the cold of High Atlas during that season.
Day 1: Arrival in Morocco.
As soon as you get here, we will welcome you at the airport to take you to the Riad where you will spend your first night in Morocco.
Day 2: Oukaimeden to Tachdirt – 4hrs30
We leave very early to Oukaimeden, which is the village of departure of the trek. Over there, we will meet the mule-drivers and the guide and will walk during 4 to 6hours on the way to Tachdirt village, where the lodging of TigmiTachdirt at 2450m high, will be our shelter for the night. 500m of ascent and 650m of descent.
Day 3: Crossing the pass Tizi-n-Tamtert to Aremd – 6hrs30
A quite long and rather difficult way is waiting for us this third day, way that will lead us to the pass Tizi-n-Tamatert at 2279m of altitude at the end of which we will make a picnic as way of lunch. We will afterwards go down to the valley Aremd which will be the last step and where the lodging for the night is waiting for us. 600m of ascent and 800m of descent.
Day 4: Departure from Armed to the Nelner refuge (3207meters) – 5hrs
For this forth day, we will climb by the valley of Armed to go to the Marabout of Sidi Chamharouch where we will have lunch and some rest. Then, we will continue the climb to join the next lodging for the three following nights: the Neltner refuge, at 3207meters high. 1200m of way up.
Day 5: Climbing to Ouanoukrim (4089m) -7hrs
This fifth day will be the opportunity to climb Djebel Ouanoukrim at 4089m high, the second highest peak of North Africa and Morocco. Once in the peak, we will rest during the afternoon to end the step to the Neltner refuge. 950m of ascent and 950m of descent.
Day 6: Climbing Jebel Toubkal – 7hrs
After Ouanoukrim the day before, we will this time venture at the peak of Jebel Toubkal by a more or less abrupt path. The Toubkal peak will allow us to profit from the panoramic view of the highest peak of North Africa. We will afterwards go back to the refuge to spend a deserved night of rest before leaving Toubkal. Peak of Jebel Toubkal (4167m). 1000m of way up and 1000m of way down.
Day 7: Coming back to Armed – 3hrs30
For this day before the last, we will leave Neltner refuge to go down to Armed valley, pasing by the Marabout of Sidi Chamharouch. Our lodging of Armed at 1900m of altitude reopens its door for us to spend the night. 1200m of descent.
Day 8: To Imlil and Marrakech – 45mn
For this last day, a small walk from Armed to the village of Imlil, where a car for the way back to Marrakech is waiting for you. Once in the places, you will still be able to profit from a visit of the picturesque places such as the large place of Jamaa-el-Fna.
This adventure of Toubkal in winter will end by the transfer from the airport to a trip back and we hope, memories filling your head.
